Live migration fails

Live migration from Host A to Host B fails between two hosts. Executed the following command on host B

Failures are recorded in the following logs on host B

Please tell me how to resolve.

Looking at the above source code, it’s error 872
Why is the container eth0 not a veth, but a phy (eth0)?
Is this a problem on the CRIU side or the LXC side? If you are on the CRIU side, do you have any plans to escalate to the CRIU side? For LXC side, are there any plans to support it? Also, please let us know if there is a network setting that allows live migration to succeed.

I have registered this content as an issue at the URL above. I got a comment from the developer.

Error: Unable to perform container live migration. CRIU isn’t installed on the source server

I am getting this error every time i am attempting to do live migration of a container.
Normal migration works fine. CRIU is obviously installed.
Any help ?

If you’re using the snap, you need to enable the use of CRIU with snap set lxd criu.enable=true followed by systemctl reload snap.lxd.daemon

The source machine is HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Laptop-15.
The destination machine is Inspiron-5558

Yeah, looks like a rather normal CRIU migration failure.
It’s failing to dump a socket because it’s got data in it that can’t be dumped/restored.

So we accept the failure , right ? :slight_smile:

Nothing that LXD can do about it, it’s either a kernel limitation which may go away if you retry enough times or a whole new kernel interface is needed + matching work in CRIU to allow handling this.

One thing is sure, that LXD isn’t responsible for that.
