If you check the edit #1 I got it all working once again. I worry my system is unstable due to old hardware or something I am doing with my partition setup… but it seems to just take 1 - 2 tries to get LXD up and stable with zfs related errors coming on both 18.04 and 20.04 images
seems to just freeze mid download/instantiation
