Create LXC container based on existing OS

Please clarify an actions required for move installed OS to LXC container.

  • How to create a container based on a working system?
  • Is that possible?
  • What’s gonna be done besides just copying my files to a new container?

I’ve a preconfigured Debian on VPS, I need to turn it into a LXC container.

LXD provides a tool to accomplish this operation, the steps are written here (there is even a video tutorial on YT, the link is inside the doc) : How to import physical or virtual machines to LXD instances - LXD documentation (linuxcontainers.org)
