How do I handle memory overcommit warning on IncusOS

When trying to run Redis on IncusOS I meet the error:
WARNING Memory overcommit must be enabled! Without it, a background save or replication may fail under low memory condition. Being disabled, it can also cause failures without low memory condition, see vm.max_map_count growing steadily when vm.overcommit_memory is 2 · Issue #1328 · jemalloc/jemalloc · GitHub . To fix this issue add 'vm.overcommit_memory = 1' to /etc/sysctl.conf and then reboot or run the command 'sysctl vm.overcommit_memory=1' for this to take effect.

This fix cannot be applied on an instance since a host end configuration is needed, and IncusOS does not expose it.

There is no standard way to configure it, and in order to do so I will have to mount the host path and edit /etc/sysctl.conf by hand, which feels hacky. Is there a reason not to enable memory overcommit, or is it safe to configure? How do people usually run Redis?

Thank you.

File a feature request at Sign in to GitHub · GitHub, we have the kernel config endpoint that has some memory related stuff already, so adding this one would be pretty trivial.

Another option would be to run Redis inside a VM, rather than a container.
