Incus packages available for EPEL / RHEL

In 2024 i read some effort was done to have Incus in EPEL/RHEL. I haven’t found any updates on this. Is it still planned, that Incus should be available for other distros than Ubuntu (and may be Debian) ?

Sadly not as much progress as I’d have liked to see.

@Conan_Kudo and others did a great job in getting it into Fedora and the packages have generally remained mostly up to date and functional there.

Then this COPR repo was made as an early attempt in getting Incus into EPEL:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/neil/incus/

It was pretty active for a while, I think mostly driven by the Rocky Linux folks, this led to some official documentation on how to install Incus on Rocky Linux:
https://docs.rockylinux.org/books/incus_server/00-toc/

But sadly that repo is quite outdated now and I don’t know it’s status nor if anyone is still pushing for proper inclusion in EPEL.

We do want to bring it into EPEL for CentOS/RHEL users eventually. The challenge has been to get all the build and runtime dependencies available. We haven’t even finished doing that for Fedora (umoci doesn’t exist in Fedora yet). Getting everything in place is still in progress.

It’s basically the same as with the Alma 10 CT/VM images. Pointers on how to do it were given, but not followed up.

I’ve been rolling Incus RPMs for EL9 since Incus v0.6 and will do so until the lights go out:

RPMs:

SRPMs:

EL10 versions will follow in 2-3 weeks when I have some other projects wrapped up.
