Incus / zfs - mountpoint=legacy - snapshots get not mounted

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to setup shadow_copy2 in my samba server for the “earlier versions” feature in my shares and i like to use my snapshots for that. With a workaround (2nd drive with a copy of the snapshots, mountet in a directory) it’s working. But It’s not working with the “incus datasets”…

usually, when a zfs dataset is mounted, it is possible to access the snapshots via /mountpoint/.zfs/snapshot/snapshotname. Afaik, the snapshot gets mounted as soon as you access the snapshot directory.

When you let incus handle your zfs datasets, the mountpoint for the datasets is set to legacy and that seems to prevent the automount of the snapshots:

Does somebody know, if there is a way, to get these snapshots mouted when the mountpoint is legacy? Or, can i simply set the mountpoint of this dataset to the stadard incus directory? Which impact does that maybe have?

I’m looking forward to your feedback.

Best regards

Jan
