IncusOS Web Image Downloader - Installation Target Drive Identifier

Trying to install IncusOS on a Lenovo M910-Q for practice.

Disabled the TPM, set the image downloader to run with degraded boot security (No TPM 2.0)

Incus USB image boot, but stuck on “no target matched provided install seed selectors”

Also indicates detected devices “scsi-…”

I’m surprised it doesn’t show “sata” as well. I’m assuming, but have not checked whether

the SATA interface is enabled in BIOS.

This pc has an ssd.

What should the “target drive identifier” be?

What should the "target drive drive bus " be?

Comments appreciated.

The bios on this pc has no scsi devices. Is the message saying the install seed has scsi

drivers..?

On Linux, all SATA is handled through the SCSI driver and so will show up as scsi-XYZ.

My IncusOS error displays detected devices as scsi-35002538da029c425

So I think I missed the two options “Specific Drive” and “Flexible Drive”.

I’m feeling like I should leave the specific drive option empty (only one drive on this system),

and place the scsi-35002538da029c425 in the flexible drive field.

Also a bit confused by these two ( ) radio button options:

( ) Use the smallest matching driver as boot drive

( ) Use the largest matching drive as boot drive

One says drive and one says driver..just a typo?

Again, this system has one 256gb ssd drive. Recommendations ?

If you only have a single drive in there, you could just not fill in any of those fields at all and IncusOS will install on the only drive it can find (so long as it’s empty).

If not, I owuld probably deal with only the size stuff, so leave everything empty, set 200 in minimum size and select the option to select the smallest matching drive.

You don’t need to do anything too specific when you’re not dealing with a server with a dozen drives of various type and sizes.

For this test I used a Lenovo M700 Mini pc

Image Selection-

Image Architechure: (x) x86_64 - For 64-bit Intel and AMD systems
Image Application: (x) Incus - Container and VM private cloud platform

Installation Target-
[x] Wipe Target Drive

OIDC Configuration-

Here I used the link “here to use it”, then entered my linuxcontainers user id
which generated the necessary details

TLS Client certificate-

Here I clicked the generated link. You will need to save the three files which are created.

My test pc had no current TPM chip, so we were required to set the following parameters
in the Advanced Settings area of the IncusOS Image Downloader

Boot Security-

(x) Degraded boot security (no TPM 2.0 module)

After those settings, we clicked [Download} and used rufus to burn our image to our

usb stick.
