Lxc image list images: does not return anything

i did setup lxc in debian 12 by using

apt-get install lxc lxd

. then i did

lxc init

and accepted all of the default settings. i am running

lxc image list images:

lxc image alias list images: ‘debian’

and the list is emtpy.

when i try to do> lxc launch debian:booworm test

Error: The remote “debian” doesn’t exist

is there something that i miss, to make lxc work ?
