LXD Init isn’t running

My end goal is to setup LXC on 3 older pre-2010 32bit computers. I have Debian (without desktop env) installed on them and I’ve installed lxd 3.0 (stable) via snap. However, even after starting and restarting the lxd daemon with snap, I get the following error when I run lxd init: “Error: Failed to connect to local LXD: Get http://unix.socket/1.0 read unix @->/var/snap/lxd/common/lxd/unix.socket: read: connection reset by peer”
If anyone is willing to help I would be most grateful.

LXD support is at LXD - Ubuntu Community Hub
