Apologies, if I am asking a wrong question. In any case, just wanted to confirm.
Is it possible to install LXD on an existing system which has LXC 2.1.1 ?

Not in any way we’d support. In theory the very outdate LXD 2.0.11 could work, but even it was never tested with this.
