Machines mounting same nfs/cifs pool via dir, considered unstable?

Is mounting an nfs/cifs/smb mount from two machines considered unstable? I came across a claim like this in my research but can’t find it again on the forum / github-tracker.

By this I mean I would have a folder on each of the machines that mounts the same remote, with nfs or cifs, whatever is considered better, then storage pooled with “dir” inside lxd.

I have NFS shares mounted on several machines, and have done so (periodically) for over 25 years. 20 years ago I also administrated machines that mounted the same SMB shares (and some machines that mounted those same directories via NFS). I haven’t seen or heard of stability issues with that.
