No network driver detected in Windows 11

Hi everyone,
I want a Windows 11 VM and followed this guide to set it up using LXC. However, during installation, Windows is unable to connect to the internet. This is what the setup phase mentions:

I bypassed the internet requirement by using the OOBE\BYPASSNRO command, but my Windows still doesn’t have access to the internet. Following the Networks and Adapters troubleshooting from settings, it mentions that the DHCP server cannot be accessed. Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this issue?

Thank you.

I don’t think you can be using lxc (which has commands with a hyphen, like “lxc-create”), because that’s for Linux containers only.

Therefore I suspect you are using lxd, whose command line tool is “lxc”, e.g. “lxc launch …”

This discussion group provides support for incus, which is a fork of lxd. Therefore, if you upgrade from lxd to incus, you can get support here.

Otherwise, if you remain with lxd, then that’s owned and managed by Canonical - please go to the Canonical forums for help with that.

Welcome!

This support forum is for Incus, which is a continuation/fork of what you read in that other guide.

When you try to successfully run a Windows VM, there are some additional background information to help you do it properly. Have a look at How to run a Windows virtual machine on Incus on Linux – Mi blog lah!

Here is how to migrate to Incus.

Thank you for the response! I tried using Incus for the installation of Windows 11 using @simos’s guide, but encountered the exact same issue. I didn’t use lxd-to-incus for migration. Instead, it was a fresh install of Incus from this repository and later follows the steps mentioned in the guide.
