I symlinked the images directory:
/var/snap/lxd/common/lxd/images
and then copy from remote fails with:
Error: Failed remote image download: stat /var/snap/lxd/common/lxd/images: no such file or directory

Don’t use symlinks. Use bind mount, or create a new storage pool.
