I noticed that debian 12 goes eol this June. In preparation for that, is there a good howto on what an inline upgrade would look like (repository changes,etc?)

There’s no quick answer that fits all environments, so I encourage you to follow the official guide (translated in a few languages), and in particular the Upgrades from Debian 12 (bookworm) section. Of course, you should also skim through the Issues to be aware of for trixie section so that you don’t have unfortunate surprises.
On most setups, it should be a very smooth ride, but the guide makes extra sure it’s the case.
PS: the Adding APT Internet sources and Upgrading packages sections should be enough on most setups.
