Vitastor - Distrubited Storage like Ceph

Recently had a customer request a security review Vitastor for a plugin they were interested in integrating with their Proxmox instance.

Vitastor is a distributed block, file and object SDS, direct replacement of Ceph RBD, CephFS and RGW, and also internal SDS’s of public clouds. However, in contrast to them, Vitastor is fast and simple at the same time.

From a feature review it appears it can perform the same concept as Ceph but less resources. I’m not a contributor, but did want to share as I haven’t heard of it before but do use Incus heavily.

Vitastor has an ugly non-OSI-approved license which requires you to open-source anything that communicates with it, directly or indirectly.

Unless you’re using it for hobby purposes, I suggest you run a mile.
