Hi forum.

I am setting up my public services on a VMware-based VPS and initially I started with Debian + Docker before I discovered LXC as a possibly better fit for my multi-service VPS host, which in turn led me to Incus and Incus OS. I think Incus OS is a good fit for my needs and I have installed it in my lab on a bare metal.

Now I want to install it on VMware ESXi but it keeps failing to boot the installer. I have enabled Secure Boot option in VMware. Did anyone else go through this to give me a hand?

Also in Incus OS announcement it says that Incus OS is designed for bare metal. Does this mean that I shouldn’t put it in production on VMware?

There are step by step instructions for installing on top of VMware vSphere available in the documentation.

For pure ESXi, it technically should work since that’s what vSphere controls but I was unable to add a TPM only through ESXi which is why we didn’t end up publishing those instructions.
