Hi all, from what I understand there was a point where stable and lts were identical, offering a set and forget kind of switch from one to the other..
I’ve curently 2 host that sit at 7.1 with the lts repo enabled, but have the idea those 2 missed the boat and I should set them back to stable repo now unless I want to manually switch them from stable to lts.
Does that pretty much describe the current lay of the land?

7.0 is when it would have been safe to switch, effectively the one month period before 7.1.
That said, we haven’t made any database changes yet in 7.x and 7.0.1 is extremely similar to 7.2.
So you should be able to move all your machines to 7.0.1 without problem.
Ah, thank you. I figured I was a little late on those incus hosts.
The switching was kind of a ‘why not’ idea given that IIRC switching from lts to stable was simple if I wanted to move back to stable. I’ve really no particular reasons otherwise.
Is there generally a period at each major version where it’s just a simple repo change between stable and lts?
The month following the release of the LTS is when it’s safe as both the stable and LTS branches are identical. There is no guarantee that we won’t have a database change in the monthly release coming out after an LTS.
Anyway, so far we haven’t done any such change, but we don’t make any guarantee around that.
