The FuturFusion team and some of the Incus maintainers will be meeting in Brussels, Belgium just a few days before FOSDEM. As part of that, FuturFusion will be throwing a “Friends of Incus” evening gathering on Thursday 2025-01-29T23:00:00Z.
Exact details are still to be sorted out, but expect food and friends and the opportunity to chat with Incus developers and users.

I am still working out the feasibility of the trip. If I join, I would also join FOSDEM. It would be my first time meeting everyone in person and my first time joining FOSDEM.
Is anyone else joining from Germany? I will probably combine the trip to Brussels either before or after with a trip to Stuttgart. Since I live in Hamburg, both are pretty close by train.
You’ll find me in the containers devroom (all day Saturday) and then the kernel devroom (all day Sunday). I’m the organizer for those two, so won’t get to leave the rooms much

Hi! As I’m planning my trip to FOSDEM and the fringe week, I was wondering if an Incus gathering would happen this year. Given the short time, I’d guess not, but you never know
Personally, I’ll be arriving in Brussels on Friday morning, then run FOSDEM Saturday morning (containers) and Sunday all day (kernel), then will stick around on Monday and Tuesday to meet with some of the FuturFusion folks before flying back on Wednesday.
So I have a bit of availability on Saturday afternoon at FOSDEM (given we only got a half day for the containers devroom). Otherwise, I currently don’t have plans for Sunday evening.
Huh, that’s bad. I know a few disappointed people who got their devrooms rejected or seriously reduced . I guess as years pass by, more and more topics have to get covered…
That’s nice but without a booth, it’s quite hard to organize a gathering (be it informal). A meetup at one of FOSDEM’s cafeterias could work though.
Maybe we should propose something informal for Sunday evening then. Not the best time for western Europeans as most of them go home on Sunday, but in the meantime, they probably don’t have their trip figured out yet (I certainly don’t), so it should work.
Yeah, we were a bit confused as to why containers would get 1/2 day when the kernel devroom would get a full day, given that we usually get larger attendance and submissions for the container one… (We started the kernel devroom as effectively an overflow of the container devroom as it was getting too many low level kernel topics).

For the rest, it will depend when they fly back. Indeed Europeans are likely to fly back on Sunday evening but anyone who came from further is likely to fly back on Monday at earliest.
